Stone Care Tips
- Use placemats, coasters and trivets to protect surfaces when possible.
- Wipe up water, oils, grease and other liquids periodically to avoid hard water spots, etching or stains.
- Do not place hot pans directly on natural stone or quartz.
Cleaning
- Clean with a non-acidic cleaner, preferably a natural stone cleaner or a mild liquid dish soap and warm water.
- Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with the soap solution and dry with a soft cloth.

Know your stone
- Marble: Your marble will be sealed prior to install to protect against stains however it can etch from acidic liquids and is more porous and softer than granite & quartzite. Take care to wipe up spills, don’t cut directly on surface and avoid sliding sharp objects. Do not allow trapped moisture under bottles, plants, coffee makers etc. as the trapped moisture can stain.
- Quartzite: The hardest and most durable of all natural stones. Stain resistance and scratch resistance.
- Granite: Harder and less porous than marble. Stain resistance and scratch resistance.
- Soapstone: Extremely non-porous but can scratch, typically treated with mineral oil or dry wax to minimize fingerprints and grease residue.
- Quartz: A manmade material created to be very durable. Extremely stain and scratch resistant.
- Sintered Stone & Porcelain: A manmade material that is extremely stain and impact resistant as well as UV and heat resistant.
